1st movement of new Choral Symphony complete

The composition of Unfinished Remembering, the choral symphony commemorating the outbreak of the 1st World War, is well under way.

The task of composing a choral symphony is a daunting one, and Unfinished Remembering, commissioned by the Birmingham Bach Choir for performance on 12 July 2014 in Symphony Hall, Birmingham is no exception. But with the completion of the nine minute first movement, a real step has been taken towards the ultimate goal. Well into the second movement, a Dies Irae scherzo, there is still a huge amount to do but Paul hopes that inspiration will flow. One of the problems is finding stretches of time to be able to sit quietly and compose which has to be fitted into a hugely busy life of conducting, writing and teaching amongst other things.

There will be regular updates here to monitor progress.
